Tend — Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for the Tend mobile app. It is short because Tend’s data handling is intentionally small. Most of your homestead data never leaves your device.

1. Your data stays on your device

Everything you enter in Tend — animals, expenses, yields, photos, notes, region preferences, badges, and receipt images — is stored only in Tend’s private database and document directory on your phone. We do not run servers, accounts, logins, or cloud sync. If you uninstall Tend, this data is permanently deleted.

2. Network requests we make

Tend sends a small number of network requests, all to third-party services we do not control:

1. Weather forecasts. When you set a zip code, Tend asks Open-Meteo for a 7-day forecast. The request includes the latitude and longitude resolved from your zip code. No personally-identifying information is sent.
2. Zip code → coordinates. Tend asks Zippopotam.us to convert your zip code into a latitude/longitude and city name. The request includes only your zip code.
3. Subscription state. If you tap to view or purchase a Tend Pro subscription, Tend communicates with RevenueCat to fetch product prices and validate your purchase against Apple’s App Store or Google Play. See section 5 below.
4. Advertisements (free tier only). Tend’s free tier shows banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. See section 6 below.

Neither Open-Meteo nor Zippopotam.us requires an account. Tend does not log, store, or share weather or location lookups with anyone.

3. No first-party tracking or analytics

Tend itself does not include any analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or first-party tracking. We do not know how often you open the app, which features you use, or how many animals or crops you track. Sections 5 and 6 cover the third-party services Tend embeds for purchases and advertising — those services have their own data practices documented at their own privacy policies.

4. Photos and the camera

Photos you attach to animals, crops, or expense receipts are stored as image files in Tend’s private documents directory on your device. They are not uploaded anywhere. The camera and photo library are only accessed when you tap to attach a photo.

5. Subscriptions and in-app purchases

Tend Pro is an auto-renewing subscription processed through Apple’s App Store (on iPhone) or Google Play (on Android). Tend uses RevenueCat to relay purchase events and validate that an active subscription exists.

What RevenueCat receives:

• A pseudonymous app-user ID generated on first launch (not tied to your name, email, or Apple/Google account in any way Tend can read)
• Your purchase receipt from Apple or Google when you subscribe
• Your country code (from your device locale, used to show local prices)

RevenueCat does not receive any of your Tend data — no animals, expenses, photos, or other homestead records ever leave the device through RevenueCat.

6. Advertisements

Tend’s free tier displays a single banner advertisement on the Home screen, served by Google AdMob. Tend Pro subscribers see no advertisements.

AdMob may use the device’s advertising identifier (an ID that is resettable in your device’s settings) and standard device information (device model, OS version, language, rough geographic region) to select which ad to show and to measure ad performance. Tend does not directly access these identifiers and does not share your homestead data with AdMob.

You can limit ad personalization at any time:

• iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → Personalized Ads → Off, or Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → toggle off for individual apps.
• Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization, or reset your advertising ID.

7. Affiliate links

Some “Recommended starter gear” cards in Tend’s reference content link to product pages where Tend may earn a small commission if you make a purchase. Tapping a link leaves the app — the destination site’s privacy policy applies from that point on. We do not share any of your Tend data with affiliate partners.

8. Children

Tend is not designed for or directed at children under 13. Tend does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app’s release notes.
